Put the citation and your driving concerns together

A traffic matter can affect your ability to get to work, care for family or manage daily life. Tell the firm whether you received a citation, were arrested or received a notice about your license.

Have both court papers and any driving-privilege notices available. They may raise different questions, and the actual documents provide a more useful starting point than a general description.

What to discuss

Explain the stop or incident, the papers you received and your next scheduled date. Useful questions include what evidence needs review, what you should prepare for court and how to address any driving-status concern.

Do not assume that contacting the firm changes an existing date or requirement. Ask about the next step using your own citation and notices.

Bring what you have

• The complete citation or notice to appear.

• Any license or suspension notice.

• Booking, bond or release papers, if applicable.

• The county, case number and scheduled court date.

• Your main work, family or transportation concerns.
